Insiders Tip: Moving 101

"There are no big deals in life except for Death, Divorce and Moving".

Moving can be really stressful and time consuming. I wanted to share a few tips with you to help make the process easier.

Hire
Think about hiring a moving company. This will save you from the headache of doing it all yourself.
Use
The right size boxes- Heavy items like books, in small boxes. Light items, like blankets and pillows in bigger boxes.
Don’t
Leave empty space in the boxes. Fill gaps with clothing, towels, or packing paper.
Avoid
Mixing items from different rooms in the same box-
Label
Each box with the room it’s destined for and a description of its contents.
Art Work
Never wrap oil paintings in regular paper; it will stick.
Picture frames with glass- make an X with masking tape across the glass to strengthen it and to hold it together if it shatters. Then wrap in paper or bubble wrap, store in a box with cardboard between each frame.
Breakables
Put paper around each dish, wrap bundles of five or six together with more paper. Pack dishes on their sides, never flat. Cups and bowls can be place inside one another, with paper in between.
Moving truck
Large items like couches, and tables should be the last to go in and first to come out.
It makes it easier on you when you get to the new place.
Open first
Pack a box that includes all the essential items you’ll need when you get to the new place.
-Towels & shower items,
-Plates, cups & utensil

-Matches- you might need to light the cooktop
-Chargers- phone and laptop, alarm clock
-Cleaning supplies, rags, small broom and dustpan
-Blanket and sheet set
This will save you from running around your new place wondering where everything went.
I hope these tips help you- I will soon be using them myself.
I am heading back to sunny San Diego in just a couple weeks.
I am looking forward to what life has planned for me next.
