DIY: A Chalk Paint Project

During the Parade of Homes this year, I ordered this vanity.

But it didn't have the look I was going for the powder bathroom.
So I bought some Waverly Inspirations- chalk paint

Base coat- Peacock #60705E (Chalk)
Top coat- Antique #60727E (Wax)
I also recommend buying a chalk paint brush and wax brush.

(There are many brands of chalk paint- choose whichever one you like best.)

I was definitely very nervous to tackle this project-- after all, my plan was to install it in one of our high dollar, custom homes. So the pressure was on, needless to say.

I did my research on my go to site-- Pinterest of course.
I found this post, which really helped me.

Step one- clean your furniture piece with a damp cloth & let dry.
Step two- apply a little amount of paint to brush and start applying to furniture.
(I actually kind of freaked out once the first coat was finished- I didn't like the color at all!
But I kept on going anyway..)

Step three- very lightly sand

Step four- apply little amount of wax to brush and start applying to furniture.
(After the wax coat was complete- I was in LOVE! Totally what I had pictured!)
Step five- Spray or brush on a sealer

Lastly- I changed the cabinet hardware.
Picked these up on sale at Hobby Lobby.

The updated look cost less than $30 bucks!

Viola! Such a fun pop of color!

Have fun with your next projects!

Before & After: Kitchen Remodel

A couple months ago, I worked with a lovely elderly couple to give their 1970's kitchen an updated look.

Here are some pictures of how the space looked;

Before

And here is how it tuned out!

After

I had all the cabinet doors and drawers remade.
We added some custom tray pull outs, a trash pull out and changed all the hinges to hidden ones. Added a fresh coat of paint.
And then we replaced the countertop and backsplash with 3cm granite.

A minimal amount of work, really gave this kitchen a whole new look.

Obsessed With: Nail Polish, Monograms & Gold Rings

Here are a couple random things that I am currently obsessed with:

Nail Polish

(Sally Hansen- Cemented)

Now that our son is older, I find that I am able to paint my nails more often. It has become my obsession to re-paint them every weekend.
For the summer months I stuck with mostly pastel colors. But now that it is almost fall, I am going back to darker colors.

Kendra Scott Just came out with these fun metallic nail polishes.
I haven't tired them yet. But this gold is very intriguing to me!

Monogram

I know monogramming has been very popular for awhile now.
But I just love everything I see.
I came across this Safari Jacket last week and immediately fell in love.
They had a sale on them at the time, so course now they are sold out!

Thin Gold Rings

Thin gold rings are all the rage right now.
So of course, anything gold I HAVE to have.
I ordered one simple gold ring, from this Etsy shop.
 So in love!

I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes...

Rustic Chic -- My Way

Many of you know that I work for Carothers Interiors & Carothers Executive Homes as an Interior Designer.
I don't normally write about the custom homes I work on.
(Usually just remodel projects)
But why not show you all that I do!

A couple months ago I posted this picture of a
Design Sneak Peak
This was to show materials I selected for the home.

The house is just about complete now
(just needs a small amount of touch ups)
But I wanted to share it with you.

Ps. Excuse the camera phone picture..
