Closet Envy

I think it’s every little girls dream to have a big, glamorous walk in closet one day. I know it’s definitely at the top of my list.
Since having my very own custom closet is in the distant future- I will just continue to dream about all the things I hope it can be. In the meantime- these fabulous spaces should hold me over.
His & Her's
(Sex and the City 2- Closet)

A place for everything.

I love the vanity area.

Tucked away in glam.

Just for the girls.

When designing a custom closet- make sure you keep the future in mind. You don’t want to create spaces just for the items you have now. Choose something that can adapt to new pieces also.

Custom closets can come with a big price tag- but in the long run, they can add value to your home. People love storage!

Insiders Tip: Color & Light

Sunlight and use of space are key opponents when choosing the right color for your room. Here are a few tips on selecting the right paint color for your space
Sunlight
South-Facing: Go with cooler tones to balance the bright light from outside.

North-Facing: Add warmer colors to brighten your room.

Use
Daytime- Choose whites and neutrals to give a crisp, clean feel.

Nighttime- Choose warmer colors that will look best under the lamps.

Try the color first on a poster board- keep it up for a few days to get a real feel for it. This will help you see the color in the many different lights, and how it works with everything else in the room.
I know choosing a color for your space can some times be overwhelming- just go with your gut. If you like it- then I say go for it!

The Breakfast Nook

There is just something about a bright, sunny breakfast nook that I love.
There are so many ways to style and design your space to take it to the next level.
Here are a few of my favorites.
Sophisticated

Cozy cottage

Beach House

Simple

Upscale

Eclectic mix

Shabby Chic

When coming up with a design concept for your home- make a list of all the things you want and need. Look at magazines, books, and blogs for inspiration. That way you are sure not to miss anything.

Obsessed With: Medallions, Mercury & Mason

Here’s just a few of my latest obsessions.
1: Ceiling Medallions
I plan to do something similar in my living room. But instead of keeping them white, I’m going to spray paint them shades of snaz.
2: Mercury Glass
I am all over this latest trend.
And I found out how to make it myself.
Check it out here
3: Mason Jar Fixtures
I love these!!

Thrifty Thursday: DIY Paintings

I've been slowing decorating and designing my own home for a couple months now.
I really wanted to paint my dining room walls like this:

Two-tone matte & gloss

But since I'm living in a home that I'm just renting right now- I didn't want all my hard work to go to waste. So this is what I did instead:

Matte & metallic

Four large canvas all painted the same.

I pulled the colors from my placemats [Home Goods] - which I love!
This room isn't finished yet- more things to come.

This project only cost me $20 dollars.

Upcoming DIY's

How is the New Year treating everyone?
It’s been pretty good for me- thus far.
I’ve made a list of goals that I would like to accomplish this year.
Some top things are:
-Budgeting a little more hardcore.
-Get more “readers”.
-Be more involved in the Design Community in town.
-Make friends in Texas (sad, but true.)
Also- In the upcoming weekends, I plan to work on some DIY projects.
Spicing up my Grandma's Jewelry Box
I plan to stain it darker and spary paint the knobs silver.

Coffee Table- To Bench
This Goodwill find- will soon become an upholstered bench that I will use in my bedroom.
Still looking for the "perfect" fabric though.

Mid-Century Office Chair
I found this lovely chair in San Antonio over the weekend at an antique shop.
I will be painting it black in a very high gloss finish.
And recovering it with a bold print.

I can't wait to update you with the finished products.

What are your goals for this year? Do you have any upcoming DIY's?
I would love to hear about them.

& Remember- If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.

Thank You!

I just wanted to take a minute to thank each and every reader I have.

Seven months ago when I first started this blog I didn't know what to expect. But I’ve received such positive feedback from all of you -which makes me happy that I started blogging. It’s humbling knowing that people are truly interested in what I have to say.
I hope to continue to grow with you and inspire you to make your home a beautiful place.

I plan to work more on my blog- revamping it a little bit. Maybe spice things up for you.
I would love to hear from you if you have questions about certain things. Or if you just have some ideas for my blog. Please feel free to email or comment. I am always here to help.

Thank you again!

XOXO
