Obsessed With: Indoor Herb Gardens

My current obsession is still--- plants!

My husband and I have recently been talking about creating our own herb garden in the kitchen.
So I wanted to share some tips I have come across.

What better way to be more green.
Color wise and environmentally too.

First things first-- finding the best spot for them to grow.
We don't have the largest kitchen, so I find that these wall mount options are the best for a small space.

Next up, finding the best type of plants to grow in your home.

Lemongrass

(Slightly moist soil and partial sun)

Mint
(Bright indirect sun)

Parsley
(Start with a seed, requires minimal attention. Grow in medium to large pot and keep in partial sun)

Chives
(Place near a bright window facing the east, with moist soil)

Cilantro

(Grow in a deep container, keep in south or west facing window)

Sage
(Keep in south or west facing window that receives plenty of sun)

Thyme
(Requires at least 5 hours of sunlight daily)

Dill
(A minimum of a 10" deep container is required, keep in a spot that receives at least 5 hours of sun daily, water only when top 1" soil seems dry)

A few other herbs that can grow on a sunny windowsill--
Rosemary, Oregano, Basil & Tarragon.

I hope these tips help you as well.
Happy Planting!

March: Recipe Recap

I typically try to keep my posts stickily about design.
But recently, I had the idea- that maybe you would like if I shared some of my recipes finds with you.
I feel like cooking is just another way to be creative and experiment.

So, I plan to do a monthly "Recipe Recap". Sharing my favorite recipes from the previous month.
Of course-- I find most/all from pinterest!

I hope you enjoy these, as much as my family and I did.
Stay tuned for next months round up.

Thrity Thursday: Coffee Filter Wreath

It has been awhile since I made anything crafty.
So, I found some DIY inspiration last week on Pinterest!

Items Needed:
Pool Noddle (Dollar Tree)
Coffee Filters (100-150)
Hot Glue & Gun
Duct Tape
Ribbon

Step #1
Use the duct tape to secure your noodle into a circle.
My wreath measured about 15"

Step #2
Pinch and scrunch your coffee filter, put glue on the tip- place onto wreath for a second or two to secure in place.

Continue this until your wreath is full!

It took me about 1.5 hours to complete.

Step #3
Glue your ribbon onto the back, and just like that- a beautiful new wreath!
All for under $5.00

Happy DIY-ing!

DIY: A Chalk Paint Project

During the Parade of Homes this year, I ordered this vanity.

But it didn't have the look I was going for the powder bathroom.
So I bought some Waverly Inspirations- chalk paint

Base coat- Peacock #60705E (Chalk)
Top coat- Antique #60727E (Wax)
I also recommend buying a chalk paint brush and wax brush.

(There are many brands of chalk paint- choose whichever one you like best.)

I was definitely very nervous to tackle this project-- after all, my plan was to install it in one of our high dollar, custom homes. So the pressure was on, needless to say.

I did my research on my go to site-- Pinterest of course.
I found this post, which really helped me.

Step one- clean your furniture piece with a damp cloth & let dry.
Step two- apply a little amount of paint to brush and start applying to furniture.
(I actually kind of freaked out once the first coat was finished- I didn't like the color at all!
But I kept on going anyway..)

Step three- very lightly sand

Step four- apply little amount of wax to brush and start applying to furniture.
(After the wax coat was complete- I was in LOVE! Totally what I had pictured!)
Step five- Spray or brush on a sealer

Lastly- I changed the cabinet hardware.
Picked these up on sale at Hobby Lobby.

The updated look cost less than $30 bucks!

Viola! Such a fun pop of color!

Have fun with your next projects!
