Insiders Tip: Hanging Picture Frames

Many people run into the problem of hanging their artwork too high, or sometimes even too low.
Well, I am giving you the gift of a magical number.
A number that you should always keep in mind when hanging artwork or picture frames.
The number is 57 inches- on center (meaning the center of the picture).
Hanging artwork at this level all around your house will create a pleasant unison.
What you need to do:
Measure and lightly mark 57" on the wall
Measure top of your picture to the middle (or take height and divide by 2)
Measure top of your picture to the tightened wire
Subtract this last amount to tell you how far above 57" your hook should go
Measure up from 57" with this last amount and lightly mark on the wall
Example:
Picture is 20" tall
Middle is 10" down from top (this should rest at 57")
Wire comes to 2" below the top
10" - 2" = 8"
Lightly mark 8" above your first mark OR 65" on the wall

This applies to a group of frames as well. Think of your grouping as one -and pick the middle frame and hang that at 57” on center.

Another great tip for hanging artwork is:

Lay your frames on the floor on top of some butcher paper.
Trace around the frames
Mark where the wire is.
Tap the paper to the wall
Nail screws into the proper place.
Remove paper

Viola! Perfectly hung artwork!
